Jazz Legends CD
Live! Jazz Legends, is an exceptionally special treat for Jazz lovers and music fans.
The recording originated in a rare opportunity organized from two concerts in Montreal and Vancouver that features five of Canada's great jazz legends as well as a new generation of talented musicians.
When one thinks of legends, Oliver Jones springs to mind, but as immediately recognized and influential figures include Michel Donato, P.J. Perry, Ian McDougall and Terry Clarke. As important as these jazz pioneers are, so too are Canada's younger and incredibly talented younger musicians. Joining in on this recording are Tara Davidson on alto sax, Karine Chapdelaine on double bass, David Charbonneau on trumpet and Evan Arntzen on tenor sax.
This live recording has an excitement and energy that will engage your heart and soul. The repertoire explored is both original and standard. The original is certainly evident in the creative writing and wonderful playing in both Ian MacDougall’s Zimbabwe and Michel Donato’s Bleu sur le vif, while standards are re-defined in very special performances based on Paul Simon's Still Crazy After All These Years, or the captivating rendition of When You Wish Upon a Star / Someone to Watch Over Me.
